Hello, my name is Rebecca Klassen, I have been a good friend of the family for the past 15 years. Curt has been on a challenging health journey since he was 14 years old battling cardiomyopathy that has lead to multiple heart surgeries and a thyroid surgery. Now he is faced with having to have a heart transplant. Despite these challenges, he remains strong and resilient, he is happily married to his wife, Tasha, and a proud parent of 2 beautiful children, Axton (10) and Scarlett (4).

Due to his health challenges, he's been unable to work for the last year and indefinitely. He faces significant expenses for ongoing care and recovery following his heart transplant. His journey will be long and hard, but he remains determined and hopeful to overcome these obstacles with support of family, friends and community.

The money fundraised will be going towards some of the large financial burdens that this family will face during the preparation, process and recovery of the transplant. In the coming months, the family will need to travel to and from Edmonton, Alberta in order to attend appointments and for testing to be completed. The transplant has to be done in Edmonton as well, so Curt will need to remain there while he is undergoing his procedures. They will also need to secure housing for Curt to stay in for 3 months following the transplant so he can be close to the hospital for appointments and emergencies if needed during his recovery. During the next year, his wife Tasha will have to take a lot of time off work, and as the sole provider for the family this will take a huge financial toll on the family's income.
