My name is Cedella. I am the daughter of Candice and stepdaughter of Curlie.
I'm creating this GoFundMe to ask for assistance with bills to come for the unforeseeable future, as today Curlie has been put into a medically induced coma after seeking help from a hospital and being sent home, then needing to go to a different hospital, which finally admitted him where he lost consciousness and stopped breathing, resulting in a code blue. Once they got him breathing, they intubated him and put him in a coma to keep him from feeling pain. A bowel perforation and almost cost him his life. Curlie and Candice have been together for 10 years, going on 11. Curlie recently turned 50. Due to this medical emergency, they will be out of work and unable to pay their bills. Due to personal and medical history, Candice is unable to work, so assistance will be needed.
This was a very unexpected event, as he is usually in good health. No one expected this.
Early this morning, he woke up in pain. He asked to go to the hospital, and his stepdad obliged and took him. They sent him home because there was nothing seen and he wasn’t cooperating due to the pain he was feeling. Shortly after release, Curlie began having severe pain and became incoherent, laying in the fetal position, not being able to speak or move. This was a red flag, so at this point in time, 911 was called. Upon reaching the hospital, he was given a bed, where he laid for a few hours before a CT scan. After being taken to get the CT scan, Candice re-entered the room to find him unconscious and not breathing. At this point, she ran and got the nurses, which is when they started doing CPR. Shortly after CPR, they found the lacerations in his abdomen and put him in a medically induced coma.
Sadly, during this time after fighting a long fight Curlie has succumbed to his injuries. During this time we are praying and working to financially and emotionally support all of his loved ones.
