Support Cultural Leaders Kunani & Ipo ❤️

I am raising money for my Uncle and Aunty Kunani & Ipo Nihipali. They are esteemed cultural and community leaders that touch the hearts of the people across all islands. When we think of aloha and commitment, we think of them.

In March of 2026, the Kona Low storm *ravaged* Hawaii. In addition to the North Shore, this storm also decimated the smaller islands. It is from the island of Molokai that they come to you today.

Growing up in 1950s Oahu, the couple yearned to return to their homeland, where their Native Hawaiian decedents flourished. But, Molokai is not for the weak. It takes hard work and dedication to cultivate land there. And, they have! Making their way back to Molokai was not only a dream come true, but a labor of true love. Spending their days as educators, artists, and participants in community, Kunani & Ipo cultivate sustainability joining the families there to re-establish food source and water on Molokai 'āina island wide.

The storm completely decimated over a decade of hard work. They lost their entire irrigation system, fenceline, solar batteries, all of their food storage, and more. In addition, their home is inhospitable, with mold infesting the walls from flooding. On top of this, they are facing conditions that make this recovery seem daunting. Since recent health issues, and before Tutu can come home, the family must install a handicap ramp for her. After dedicating their lives to others, it is time that we come together to help support our Kupuna.

As a retired Police Officer, Kunani has acted as an educator, artist, lecturer, presenter, inventor, and also held numerous leadership and supportive roles in political, economic, social and cultural organizations for Hawaiʻi. Ipo, an incredible grass roots artist has also commanded these activations as an educator and leader herself. The couple leaves a lasting impact on the Hawaiian people and beyond. (Oh, and if youʻre a University of Hawaiʻi student you have *definitely* seen her beautiful 2 dimentional mural!)

If you have the means to support, please consider donating to their recovery fund. Every dollar counts.
