Hello, I’m Teressa Raiford, executive director of Don’t Shoot Portland, an arts and education organization that uses art as a tool to inform and support children and families affected by violence. I’m reaching out today for the support of a local humanitarian and fine artist who has supported our work and our entire community for almost 80 years. In 2019, Isaka Shamsud-Din was honored by the city of Portland for his work to bridge history, heritage, and culture in our state. Today, I am informing and asking for your support as he enters hospice.

His family is preparing space for him, but with these tasks come large responsibilities, especially for someone whose life has been dedicated to civil rights.
