Meet Cucumber, the sweetest angel baby who needs our help.
A little over a week ago, Cucumber was brought by a local humane society to a university teaching hospital for her spay. You see, local humane societies partner with vet schools in order to help veterinary students practice their surgical skills in a safe, supervised environment. So Cucumber was brought to the school, met her attending student veterinarian, and everything took off from there.
During her spay, she had a minor complication, but seemed to wake up and recover just fine. Beth, the vet student in charge of her care, came back regularly to check on her and, of course, fell in love (how could you not? Look at her!!). So, long story short, she adopted Cucumber.
Well not a few days into the beginning of her forever, Cucumber is in the hospital fighting for her life. She has many things going on, but the primary concern is her severe pneumonia that is taking over her lungs. She is on all the supportive care possible (plus some good ole antibiotics), and currently her vet is cautiously optimistic for her recovery.
Now here is where I am asking for help for my dear friends: Beth and her wife, Jess, adopted Cucumber and were immediately slapped with very large bills. They are so grateful that Cucumber fell into their hands where she will get the proper care she needs, but they are vet students after all, and her hospital bill is a little more than they can afford. So I am asking for help in raising funds for Cucumber. This way she can get the help she needs, and her moms can focus on her recovery (and school) than the daunting medical bill.
Love & Appreciate all of you. I know this isn't my normal ask, but I hope you can understand why I made the exception for my dear friends and their doggo. Anything helps, even just sharing the page.
Thank you
