Crystal Lopez has been living with end stage kidney disease for many years due to IgA nephropathy, an autoimmune condition that has deeply affected her life. Despite the daily challenges of dialysis and the uncertainty that comes with chronic illness, Crystal has remained hopeful and determined. Recently, she received the life-changing gift of a kidney transplant at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. As part of her recovery, Crystal must remain in Jacksonville until she is medically cleared to return to Orlando and reunite with her children.

The journey ahead is still long. Crystal faces significant expenses for post-surgery care, temporary living costs in Jacksonville, and is unable to work while she recovers, making it difficult to support her family. She is especially motivated by her three young children—11-year-old twin boys, both autistic and very athletic, and her youngest, who is 8. Being separated from her children during this time is especially hard, but Crystal is determined to heal so she can return home and be present for their activities. She loves to cook and cherishes every moment with her family, and she is most looking forward to being a healthier, more active mom for her kids.
