Hi everyone,

My name is Crystal Smith, and I am a senior at NIU. I am currently working toward my degree in Psychology with a minor in Counseling. Throughout my college journey, I have remained committed to both my education and my community. I am proud to serve as a member of the Black Council Association, where I advocate for student engagement, leadership, and cultural awareness on campus.

As I enter my final year of college, I am facing significant financial challenges that threaten to delay my graduation. An unfortunate situation outside of my control caused setbacks in my academic progress, resulting in additional expenses and making it difficult to stay on track. Despite working hard and remaining dedicated to my goals, the rising costs of tuition, books, housing, and other educational expenses have become overwhelming.

My dream is to use my education to help others through counseling and mental health support, particularly within underserved communities. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help me overcome these financial obstacles and move one step closer to earning my degree. Your support will not only help me complete my final year of college, but it will also allow me to continue pursuing a career dedicated to helping others heal, grow, and succeed.
