My name is Geovani, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my close friend, Crystal McKenzie. Crystal is in her first year at the University of Technology, Jamaica, where she’s pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene through a two-year accelerated program. Becoming a dental hygienist has always been Crystal’s dream, but the reality is that tuition and other expenses are very costly, and she has limited financial support. She applied for scholarships but unfortunately did not receive any responses before entering the program. Her only option was to apply for a student loan, which may help, but with the high cost of tuition, instruments, school supplies, rent, and daily expenses, she still faces a heavy financial burden.


Crystal’s program is fast-paced, making it difficult to maintain a part-time job while keeping up with her studies. After completing sixth form, she took a gap year to work and save towards her education, but most of her earnings went towards assisting her grandmother and covering her own necessities. Her grandmother’s income is not enough to support her, and Crystal is determined to ease that burden. Despite these challenges, Crystal has always worked hard, taking on different jobs, volunteering at charity and community events, and staying active in giving back wherever she can.


I am now reaching out to ask for your support for Crystal. Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring her one step closer to achieving her dream of becoming a dental hygienist.
