Support Crystal Schelle's Healing and Recovery

Donation protected
Daughter, sister, storyteller, name-dropper, and karaoke queen Crystal L. Schelle was in a serious car crash on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, and the Schelle family is raising funds to help cover the cost of her continued care and bills from the car crash itself.

While driving home, Crystal lost control of her vehicle on South Locust Street in Hagerstown and collided with parked cars, causing her SUV to flip onto the driver’s side. First responders arrived quickly, rescuing Crystal from the vehicle and providing life-saving care before rushing her to Meritus Medical Center. Crystal is currently unresponsive and relying on a ventilator, with a long road to recovery ahead.

She also sustained broken ribs and trauma-induced pneumonia due to the crash and medical interventions. Despite these challenges, her family and loved ones are hopeful for her recovery as they explore options for long-term medical care.

Through the course of her career in the Tri-State area, Crystal has made countless friends through her work and community involvement. As the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, Crystal has been a beacon of creativity and leadership. Her love of journalism is evident in her roles as a journalism instructor at Frederick Community College, an on-air reporter for WJEJ-AM, and a freelance writer, with her works appearing in publications like Hagerstown Magazine and the Frederick News-Post. Recently, she joined the board of the Maryland International Film Festival Hagerstown.

Crystal’s career at Herald-Mail Media spanned over a decade, where she excelled in roles such as Lifestyle Editor and co-host of “Hub City Highlights” on HMTV. Before that, she was the Living Editor at The Journal in Martinsburg, W.Va., where she worked alongside her brother Charles for seven months.

The Schelle family and her beloved boyfriend, Todd Stotler, are holding onto hope and advocating for the care and time Crystal needs to heal. They are committed to ensuring she receives the support required for her recovery journey. Crystal is a fighter, and her family is determined to help her overcome this challenging chapter of her life.

This GoFundMe will cover costs for her recovery, her medical bills, automotive insurance bills, and legal costs. Funds raised beyond the goal will go toward unforeseen costs to support Crystal’s care and recovery, and family support.

The GoFundMe is set to a dynamic fundraising goal to encourage contributions and will display as an adjustable goal but the fixed goal is $40,000.
