First, I would like to just start off by thanking you for taking the time to view this GoFundMe. My name is Madison Sebes, and I am making this GoFundMe to try to give my best friend, Crüe, some more time with me and his sister, Nola. For those of you that don’t know me, both of my dogs are my whole entire world. So much so that I made the decision to go back to school full-time starting July 7, 2025, to study to become a veterinary technician. With that being said, I had to quit my full-time job to do so and am financially spread really thin.
Crüe is my 5 1/2-year-old Great Dane that has been my baby since I brought him home when he was 9 weeks old.
On August 12th, he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of his right distal femur. For those of you that do not know what osteosarcoma is, it’s a very aggressive type of bone cancer.
After discussing his options with oncology on 8/19, I opted to do a full leg amputation (performed 8/27) followed up with a clinical trial for a cancer treatment called immunotherapy to get rid of any cancer cells still in his body to prevent it from spreading. They took his amputated leg and created cancer-fighting vaccines from his own cells. (How cool, because he also helped other dogs too!) Since it was a clinical trial, his treatment cost was covered by the company that was making the cancer vaccines.
He started the first round of immunotherapy vaccines on 9/4 & 9/5, followed by his second round on 10/1 & 10/2.
In-between his immunotherapy treatments, Crüe started to have some medical issues with his jaw not being able to open fully. The treatment of choice was steroids and anti-inflammatory medication, but it came with the cost of him being disqualified from the clinical trial since steroids would fight the immunotherapy vaccines. Crüe's quality of life started to decline and I had to pull him from the clinical trial.
Since starting steroids, he has improved greatly and is at the point where we can now start to try chemotherapy for a cancer treatment instead. He will need carboplatin (chemo) treatments every three weeks (5-6 total treatments) to be able to successfully destroy the cancer cells. Through his treatment, he will also need radiographs midway through chemo, and after, to make sure it’s working.
As of right now, Crüe is cancer-free, and I really want it to stay that way. He is full of so much life and has so much fight to live in him. He has been through so much in the past few months and really deserves to have more time after what he has been through.
I have done everything in my power financially, along with receiving so much help from my immediate family to get Crüe to the point he’s at now in his treatment. He’s the biggest light in my life, and he is my family.
If there are any donations left over from his treatment or if for any reason chemotherapy is not working and he needs to be taken off, I will donate any proceeds to Gray Paws Sanctuary.
I have included some pictures of Crüe, along with an estimate for how much each chemo treatment will cost. There are 5-6 treatments total as well as radiographs needed.
