Cristina Garcia del Campo needs your support
Hundreds of people have suffered life changing adverse effects leading to amputations, chronic illness, long term hospitalisation and many deaths; all as a result of taking or being prescribed Nolotil, the main brand in Spain for the painkiller metamizole also known dipyrone
Imagine you, your loved family member or friend having hospital treatment in Spain and they are prescribed or given intravenously the painkiller Nolotil
Then without warning they are overcome by infection leading to sepsis and are on death’s door fighting for their lives, maybe in a coma – for days, weeks and even months
Unfortunately, hundreds of people and their families have found themselves in this situation
The lucky ones live, but with life changing outcomes; the unlucky ones die or end up in hospital fighting for their lives
Their families left with no answers, wondering why their loved one died when they only went into hospital for a straight forward procedure or treatment, the doctors also not knowing what went wrong, baffled, and working their hardest to save their patient
All because they were given Nolotil a supposedly safe and well promoted painkiller by the unknowing Spanish Doctors
Nolotil is extremely toxic to the bone marrow, which is where the immune system is based
Nolotil wipes out the white blood cells and the bone marrow's ability to produce more – the medical term is agranulocytosis
No white blood cells no immune system
No Immune system - No infection fighting – Any infection becomes life threatening
Metamizole is banned in many countries including USA, UK, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Australia due to its known extreme toxicity causing agranulocytosis (wiping out the white blood cells and tanking the immune system)
In the distant past, in Spain, Nolotil was only given in exceptional circumstances as a last resort and under strict supervision – its adverse effects due to its toxicity were well known
However, in recent years it has become the most prescribed and administered drug in Spain – it’s as if everyone has forgotten, with time its extreme toxicity has faded into obscurity, as all the old knowing Doctors gradually retire
This with what seems to be aggressive promotion and marketing of the drug in recent years has proven to be a perfect storm
Nolotil has become the go to painkiller in all Spain’s hospitals for, pre and post operations, trauma in A&Es and medical centres
Unfortunately, the Irish, British and northern Europeans are proving to be very susceptible to these adverse toxic effects and are extremely vulnerable as a result
Every time someone from these countries needs hospital treatment for something as simple as pain relief for a bad back to having an operation, they run the real risk of ending up in that hospital’s intensive care fighting for their lives with sepsis caused by Nolotil
Cristina Garcia del Campo is a language teacher and medical & legal translator based in Javea, she helps many people with medical translations and instant interpretation at hospitals and doctor’s surgeries
On the 9th December 2017 Cristina had her eureka moment
She had become increasingly concerned over the unexpected death of a growing number of her clients from sepsis and whilst reading their medical reports and mulling them over realised that there was a common factor, which was that they had all been administered or prescribed Nolotil prior to their illness
Since Cristina’s eureka moment, she has tirelessly been investigating the link between Nolotil, Sepsis and other adverse effects
She has spent many hours over the last two years waging a campaign to raise awareness, both in the general public and the Medical Authorities, to get recognition of the causal effect of metamizole, to get the drug banned from being given to these nationalities and ultimately help the victims get the compensation they deserve
Cristina has had many meetings with Aemps (Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Care Products Regulatory Agency), The Drug Safety Agency of the Valencian Region, medical experts, doctors, and lawyers in Denia, Gandia, Valencia, Barcelona and Madrid
Cristina has financed all this from her own pocket
Cristina is my wife and I have watched her spend the majority of her free time on this campaign working into the early hours and most of her weekends
This investigation and research is very time consuming and often eats into her teaching times thereby costing her lost income
I am extremely proud of Cristina the work she is doing and everything she is accomplishing
Cristina is making huge personal sacrifices to support others
I ask that you sacrifice a little to support her by donating so she can continue this important work pursuing it to its conclusion
