Hello, my name is Cristhin Briceno.
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of 2024. She was immediately advised that she needed to start chemotherapy as soon as possible, so we started calling every clinic and hospital that specializes in cancer treatment. My mother is in Venezuela, and medical providers and medication for cancer are extra expensive. The government also has their pharmacies that have lower prices but usually don't have these medications available. With hard work and the help of friends and family, we were able to pay for Mom's first set of chemotherapy (6), and she had double mastectomy surgery in June of 2025. She is now going through her second set of chemotherapy (6), which has been tough on a different level because her body is weak from all the treatment she has gone through already. We are just doing the best we can to cover all her necessities and needs while she goes through this. Once she is done with this set of chemo, she is required to wait for one month to start radiotherapy.
One month after Mom was diagnosed, my father had a stroke that he is still trying to recover from. We have received help from family friends who help them go to their medical appointments. Mom and Dad live alone; we pay someone to come over and help with cleaning and cooking during the weekdays. We are just hanging in there, believing in God's promises that everything will be alright and He has our backs, while we are working extra hard to make things happen.
