Hello! I'm working hard alongside my partner to afford a home of our own. Are you willing to help us?
My name is Cris. I've been taking care of my father since I was able to walk and talk on my own. I was told time and time again that college would free me from my situation. In 2015, I attended the now-defunct Wells College and graduated right before COVID hit. I moved back home to live with and later care for my disabled father once more.
If I seem short or vague, it's because I fear this getting back to him. I love this man and care for him daily, overseen by and paid for by the state. Even so, things have never been healthy. I'm beyond my breaking point and tired of losing myself to the unhealthiness of being a live-in carer for someone abusive. This is what led me and my long-term partner to seek housing. Because of my three cats that aid me with emotional support, it’s been difficult to find a rental situation that would accept us. So, we went with a mortgage.
Right now, we need aid in closing costs. We are looking at all assistance options we can, but I was told to put this up by others so that we can get other assistance. The cash we need to close is approximately 20 thousand dollars, not including the inspection that we are already paying out of pocket. Out of this amount, we can maybe handle the 7 thousand down payment on our own. We had no idea all the extra fees that add up when purchasing a home. We figured we would have more time, but things have been getting worse, and our offer was accepted, so now we are in the final ride.
I'm aware this sounds entitled. I know this is a shot in the dark. But if you are willing, I'm forever thankful.
I still work as a carer for my father currently while also running my own business and working elsewhere. If you want incentive for helping me, I do have an online store and also offer art commissions. Even sharing my art offerings and this post to others helps me. I appreciate it all very much.
Thank you for your time.
Why 20k?
I sure asked the same thing when I looked over the costs. The biggest fees are setting up the escrow account that covers taxes and insurance which, by itself is over $6,000 of the cost. There's other taxes involved in the transferring of the deed, too, which is another $2,000. It all starts to add up. We need to obtain this money by any of the means we've been using by the first week of October, which has definitely made things...scary.
