We need your help to present our spring concert, titled MAYDAY, on May 28th, 2022, at The Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis!
Create Freedom Arts Projects (CFAP) is a community dance company funded solely by donors and arts supporters like you.
ABOUT THE CONCERT "MAYDAY"
Mayday got its start as an international distress call in 1923. It was made official in 1948. It was the idea of Frederick Mockford, who was a senior radio officer at Croydon Airport in London. He came up with the idea for “mayday" because it sounded like the French word m'aider, which means “help me."
Asking for help can be humiliating. ‘I must be vulnerable. I must communicate. I must be honest with myself and admit I can’t do it alone.’
After all, aren’t we supposed to be strong and independent? But where do we go when we’re feeling lost? How do we manage recurring thoughts that intrude our plans, purpose, and peace? We dare not admit the truth, so afraid of being perceived as needy, a burden.
But, Friend, it’s okay. It’s okay to ask for help.
From needing company to gas money for the week. In the barber shop chair, at the dinner table, or in a therapist’s office.
It’s okay to ask for help. You don’t have to do this alone.
This production is a distress signal to get closer to mental wellness. Wellness is a continuum; it is ongoing change -
