Cathy Parks and Ken Harper organized this fundraiser on behalf of William (Craig) Parks.

The goal of this fundraiser is to help defray medical and living expenses for Craig while battling Stage IV kidney cancer.

In November 2023, after being hospitalized at Houston Methodist Hospital for severe abdominal pain, Craig was diagnosed with Stage IV Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC), commonly known as kidney cancer.

Craig has been receiving state-of-the-art advanced systemic immunotherapy treatment and other targeted drug treatment at the Houston Medical Neal Cancer Center since December 2023. His resilience and positive attitude have been inspiring and remarkable during this period.

Thankfully, the cancer was diagnosed before it had spread to other vital organs but is considered advanced by his medical team because it had spread to his lymph nodes prior to the diagnosis. That said, with continuous and ongoing systemic treatment by Craig’s top-notch oncology team, Craig’s prognosis is very good, so we are beyond thankful for his excellent medical treatment at Houston Methodist, which is ranked as the #1 hospital for patient care in Houston, Texas.

Craig has been working at George Bush International Airport without interruption for 30 years. He is admired and beloved by his co-workers, management and airport customers. During his sustained medical treatment for cancer, Craig has continued to work rather than take time off under FMLA, because he enjoys his job. He never misses a day of work unless it is for treatment or a hospitalization, which is quite remarkable.

Craig is a man of faith. He is also a kind, generous and thoughtful person who puts others before himself. He is a very proud and private person, which is the reason it has taken a year to launch this fundraiser for him. We must honor and respect our family and friends decisions about their medical privacy even if we want to help them.
