In September 2025, Craig Bess was admitted to Duke University Hospital for advanced heart failure. After a life-saving heart transplant on November 8, 2025, what should have been a straightforward recovery turned into a prolonged battle with multiple complications, keeping him in the hospital until late February. Adding to these challenges, Craig is now facing severe kidney damage as a side effect of the transplant. His doctors have said that if his kidneys don’t recover, he will need a kidney transplant in the near future to regain his health and independence.
Craig and Selena are now facing mounting expenses for dialysis, pre-transplant evaluations, medications not covered by insurance, travel for follow-up appointments, and everyday living costs as they navigate this new reality. That’s why we’ve started this GoFundMe campaign—to help ease the financial burden and give Craig the best chance at recovery.
Your generous donations will help cover uninsured medical expenses, including dialysis and transplant-related costs, lost income for Selena during her time supporting Craig, housing and travel expenses in Durham, and rehabilitation and home modifications for Craig’s recovery. Any amount you can contribute makes a real difference. If you can’t donate, please share Craig’s story with your network; every share brings us closer to our goal. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion, prayers, and support. Together, we can help Craig get back on his feet and build a healthier future.
