I rescued Cowboy, the mini Aussie, after he was being given away by some people on Facebook Marketplace. They explained he was a gift to their adult son by a coworker, but that he had gotten into a relationship and left him with his mother to take care of.
When I got there, he was in much worse shape than they had described. Beneath his long coat, he was severely emaciated, had overgrown nails, and was infested with over 50 ticks and countless fleas. He jumped in my car without hesitation, and we have been inseparable ever since.
His teeth were never cared for by his previous owners, and now he needs several extractions and a scaling of the teeth they can save. He has kidney issues and a heart murmur (possibly caused by the dental issues) that complicate the surgical procedure.
I was quoted roughly $3,000 by two other vets, and then offered a great discount by a local vet that would make the procedure only $1,220.
Cowboy is a gentle, kind soul and has already touched so many lives in the short time I have had him. He never deserved all of what these people put him through, and I would love to see him healthy and able to recover from these issues.
If you can find it in your heart to donate to his dental costs, I would appreciate it forever.
