Help Me Rebuild My Life After Mold Exposure

Dear friends, family, and compassionate souls,

I find myself in an extreme emergency situation, and I’m reaching out for your help as I try to rebuild my life. In December, I discovered that the apartment I was living in (subletting) had black mold. Despite bringing it to the attention of the management multiple times, it took months for them to take my concerns seriously and address the issue. During that time, my health took a severe toll. I experienced alarming symptoms, including coughing up blood, swollen and bleeding gums, extreme fatigue, drowsiness, and overwhelming paranoia—all from the mold and the hazardous chemicals used during remediation.

My pets also suffered from the exposure to the mold, adding to the stress and heartache of this ordeal. Watching them struggle with their health has been incredibly painful for me. For those who know, my dog Mochi has been struggling for a few years now with congestive heart failure prior to this.

After enduring this nightmare, I was laid off from my job, and my struggles have become even more difficult. I’ve been trying to find a new job, but my health issues make it challenging. I’m working towards securing a new apartment, but due to my poor credit and financial situation, I need a cosigner to get approved. Currently, I'm thinking of getting an Airbnb for April until I find an apartment that will approve me or someone who’s willing to co-sign (huge ask, I know).

I also need to replace around 90% of my furniture and clothing, which were damaged and contaminated. As I navigate these challenges, I'm putting together an Amazon wish list and will gratefully accept any donations of blankets, pillows, beds, or other essentials.

Why do I have no rights and why am I being forced to go? I am not on the lease. I sublet. The people I sublet from don’t want to fight or deal with this, so I have to figure it out alone.

I’m currently caring for my elderly dog Mochi, who recently faced a life-threatening episode just 24 hours ago.

I cannot express how much I want to provide a safe and stable home for us, including my two cats, all of which I have had since they were babies.

I’m embarrassed to ask for help, but I genuinely have a small window left before I find myself sleeping on the floor or worse. Your support, whether through donations or sharing this campaign, would mean the world to me.
