Support Cosmo's Return: Cover Legal Fees

Help me pay off the costs of getting my dog back from my dognapping ex-husband

A little over a year ago, I came home from a routine lunchtime errand and was not immediately greeted at the door by a wildly waggling Vizsla named Cosmo, couldn't find him anywhere in the house, and panicked.

Even though I was in the midst of a painful divorce and Cosmo was a contentious issue, I didn't immediately think of my ex because he'd moved quite literally across the country a few months prior. He'd made some threatening comments in email, but not recently and I didn't initially think he would have done this to me or to Cosmo.

But after my neighborhood helped me search frantically and found nothing but his discarded tracking collar, I was able to confirm with police assistance that my ex had indeed broken into the house and taken my puppy. Not only that, he'd texted family members that he was driving back across the country with my poor dog (who doesn't like super long car rides) and it was all legal and for the best.

Fortunately the judges involved disagreed with my ex's definition of legal, but it took my lawyer and I a full month to get a temporary domestic violence order, then get the final protective order that included my ex surrendering Cosmo, and then work with Animal Services to get my ex to comply and surrender my dog last April, 2024 so I could bring him home.

Since then, I've been in the midst of a lengthy court battle to keep Cosmo and TODAY WE WON! I am THRILLED that this is over and I have my dog, less so that I now need to compensate my ex for the "property value" of Cosmo as part of this final ruling.

I know many wonderful people want to punch my ex in the [redacted] and while that is harder to arrange, if you want to toss some support money into the hat, it would be greatly appreciated!

If I go over goal, I will cover the court fees in addition to the payment and buy Cosmo the fanciest of steaks (or maybe tacos?)

And if there's anything beyond that I can donate to some really wonderful local rescues and the domestic violence center that helped me file the protective order while I was still in shock. Thank you!
