The Waymaker Fund for the Hurlbut family
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Felicia Hurlbut, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to read our story. My family and I have been blindsided by my husband's diagnosis of stage 3C metastatic Melanoma cancer. My husband, Cory, had a tumor dissection done. Three days later, he became extremely ill and was admitted to the hospital for three days due to his leg testing positive for two different types of staph and strep infections, along with other complications. Cory's original treatment plan was 12 weeks of immunotherapy and lymph node dissection, followed by another 12 weeks of immunotherapy. He has experienced ongoing complications, and the immunotherapy is causing him inflammation. His Oncologist is looking for alternatives - pending insurance approval, due to higher costs. I am still unable to return to my full-time job due to a major injury in November. I have constant pain from herniated discs. The treatment plan has yielded no relief, so unfortunately surgery is my next step. Cory and I have lost the majority of our incomes, and are humbly asking for your help. As many of you already know, short term disability is nowhere near enough. We are now severely behind on our mortgage payment, and have not been able find help. All the melanoma foundations for financial aid are either closed or have a waiting list. Trustees denied assistance due to 2023 income guidelines. Rest assured, all donations will be used to keep our home, food, bills and medical expenses. No amount is too small, and all donations are GREATLY appreciated. We kindly ask everyone to please share our story. We need your support, and even if you feel uncomfortable donating funds, we would truly appreciate meals, gas cards, medical supplies, feminine hygiene products (3 of us), and encouraging letters. Anything that may seem small to you will be huge to us. Our entire family thanks you for your prayers, encouragement and consideration.
Update: 6/14/24
Cory's condition has worsened. It has went from stage 3C to stage 4 melanoma. It's now in his lymph nodes in his neck, all over abdomen and Liver. We are currently in Los Angeles at The Angeles Clinic seeing Dr. Omid Hamid for clinical trials. They are doing more biopsies and more tests. This is an extremely rare form of Melanoma and extremely expensive. Please help donate. Any amount is good, no donation is to small. Thank you to everyone that has kept us lifted in your prayers and all the donations! We appreciate all of you. Please keep us in your prayers✝️️❤️
