Support Cory Callison's Road to Recovery

Cory Callison went to Stanley for deer hunting and to cut firewood like we do multiple times every fall. While out cutting firewood, with the help of my parents, Cory was just in the absolute wrong place at the wrong time. He was barely inside the safety zone of a tree being felled and took a direct hit as it came down in the wrong direction. A one in a million spot for him to be and for a tree to fall but tragedy just the same.

Jo was to him within moments of the accident. He was unconscious with a severe head wound and trouble breathing.

We were extremely lucky to be able to reach the local air ambulance dispatch as well as get the Stanley Volunteer Ambulance enroute to us immediately.

Jo stabilized Cory as much as possible in the woods with the help of her parents (lifelong EMT) and the local backcountry ambulance made it to us within about 25-30min. Local Stanley Volunteers along with with a Custer County sheriff’s deputy helped haul Cory out of the woods.

An Air St Lukes helicopter was on the ground at our exact location in the middle of nowhere within 40min. The amazing paramedics helped further stabilize Cory and flew us directly here to St. Als in Boise where he has been receiving nothing but the absolute best care.

The ICU and neurosurgery department is very positive about his condition although he has not woken up fully.

I have the utmost faith he will overcome this hurdle like so many before. I can’t wait to share with him, when he wakes up, all the love and support we have had from our amazing local community and world wide friends and family.
