Support Cortney's Battle with FND
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart but also with hope. My name is Cortney, but you may know me online as X Shroomy X, and I’ve been recently diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)—a condition that has drastically changed my life, my health, and my ability to work and live independently.
FND affects how the brain sends and receives signals to the body. In my case, I experience a range of unpredictable and exhausting symptoms, including:
Muscle lock up, weakness, and tremors
Seizure-like episodes (non-epileptic seizures)
Chronic fatigue and brain fog
Difficulty with speech and coordination
Anxiety, depression, and overwhelming sensory overload
These symptoms can strike at any time, making it incredibly difficult to hold a steady job or manage day-to-day responsibilities. On top of that, my family has been struggling financially. My ability to work has been inconsistent at best, and necessities like rent, medical bills, therapy, and transportation have become constant sources of stress. The stress only worsens my symptoms, creating a vicious cycle that’s incredibly hard to break without support.
This has taken an emotional, physical, and huge financial burden on my family. If I could take some stress away to help my boys and husband, that alone will help. This GoFundMe is my way of asking for help during a time when I’ve run out of options. Donations will go toward:
Ongoing medical expenses and specialist visits
Therapy (both physical and mental health support)
Basic living needs like rent, food, and transportation
Any adaptive equipment or tools that can make daily life easier
Living with FND feels like fighting an invisible battle every day. Even the smallest contribution would make a huge difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support.
With Love,
Cortney
