My name is John Vandygriff, and I’m creating this fundraiser for my daughter, Cori — a devoted middle school teacher here in Lubbock, Texas, and one of the strongest people I’ve ever known.

A few months ago, our family received the news no parent ever wants to hear: Cori has been diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer.

Watching her face this battle has shown me what true courage looks like. Through every appointment, every treatment, every exhausting day, she has refused to let cancer define her or take away the light she brings into the world. She still gets up each morning, determined to show up for her students, her family, and her future. She still laughs, still dreams, still plans — with a strength that humbles me daily.

Cori is my hero.

She loves her family fiercely, and her family loves her even more. But she is also incredibly proud and independent. She’s the type of person who always says, “I’ll be fine — someone else needs the help more than I do.” She has pushed forward without asking for anything, even while juggling treatments, fatigue, and the uncertainty that comes with a diagnosis like this.

But as many families know too well, even with insurance, cancer brings a long list of expenses — medical bills, travel for appointments, lost wages, and countless unexpected costs that add up quickly. And while Cori would never ask for help herself, many wonderful friends, coworkers, and community members have reached out asking how they can support her.

That is why I’ve created this fundraiser on her behalf.

Every dollar raised will go directly to Cori to help ease the financial burden of treatment and allow her to focus on what matters most: healing, staying strong, and reclaiming her life.
