Corissa and Tony Peterson are living the nightmare no parent ever wants to experience. In their words:
“Our precious, sweet, resilient, beautiful baby girl, Amelia Rose passed away on April 29, 2024. We are broken, confused, stunned and heartbroken. We brought Amelia into the clinic on 4/25/24 because she had been throwing up once in a while for over a month and it seemed like it was getting more frequent. She seemed slightly more fussy in the evenings but overall she was still a happy little girl. She was still smiling, eating, her weight was still on track, and she was still sleeping well. We spent the weekend with family and she seemed to be getting more fussy and stopped eating well. By Sunday we were getting worried but that night we tried formula for the first time and she seemed to do better. We went to bed hopeful that we would figure this out.
By 11:30 pm on 4/28/24 we woke up and Amelia was so pale, we rushed her to the ER. The amazing staff at St. Croix Hospital got her stable and ready to transfer to Children’s MN Hospital when all of a sudden her heart stopped. They performed CPR for an hour but our baby girl was gone. We’ve found out her heart was enlarged, which means it had to work much harder than normal to function. We are awaiting more information to try to explain her passing. We always knew our baby girl had a big heart full of love. It was just too big for her little body, or for this world.”
