Support Corey’s Fight: Critical Recovery Ahead

**Update 12/17**

Today is Corey’s birthday & what a birthday it’s been! To start, his ventilator was officially removed on Sunday @ 5:05 pm. He’s been doing amazing since. His left arm has a pulse and he’s able to move it, not completely like he used to but baby steps. Today (12/17) he got up with physical therapy and walked, he’s also progressed to soft foods! We are flat out just amazed by Corey’s strength. To survive the unthinkable and then defy every single odd thrown your way is no easy task.. but he’s done it. He still has a very long road ahead of him but he’s on that road and speeding! We have heard every prayer, read every message and seen every single donation & from every inch of our hearts we thank you. Please continue to pray for him. ❤️

On behalf of our family we sincerely want to give our deepest gratitude for the prayers we've received during this horrible time in our lives. We have read every single prayer from each and every one of you with tears, bloodshot, and swollen eyes.. The love you have shown in prayers has been something out of this world.

As we decided to start this gofundme for Corey, Hillary and the 3 grandkids, we thought we'd include a breakdown and update on Corey's situation.

On Saturday, Dec 7th at around 1:30 in the afternoon, Corey was shot 6 times by an unknown person at his apartment complex.

Corey is a son, brother, nephew, friend and most importantly, a husband to Hillary and father to 3 precious children Kaiden, Kinslee, and Adaleena.

That morning, Corey had got off his night shift and went grocery shopping with his daughter, Kinslee. He returned home and took the groceries in with Kinslee and then headed back out with the plan to go to Costco alone.

Corey left the apartment and headed to his car. While in his car the gunman came up to his driver side window and asked "Where's the baby? " Corey replied he didn't know what he was talking about.. The gunman shot Corey 6 times!

Corey proceeded to put the car in reverse and stopped 2 buildings down. He ran out of the car while calling 911 but then collapsed. People nearby ran to help him & called 911. The police were there in record time to help. He was able to remain calm and alert long enough to give a full report which is beyond amazing honestly.

Corey's condition is still very critical. As of 12/9 he remains intubated and sedated. The progress is promising though! The days are filled with the unknown and lots of ups and downs. First surgery was 8 hours long & with that came reports of

1. Subclavian artery ligation resulting in a high likelihood Corey might lose his left arm *as of 12/9 he has a pulse in this arm again, thank God!*

2. Carotid Artery injury

3. Vertebral Artery ligation which leaves him at a very high risk for stroke.

4. 50 units of infused blood. FIFTY!

**12/9- learned he has an incomplete dissection of the Subclavian artery.

There are other injuries but luckily none to the brain or spinal cord. The ones listed are the major ones causing Corey to fight hard.

In closing- at this time, Corey's condition is stable but very critical. Should Corey lose his arm, there will be struggles and financial loss, not to mention the recovery expenses. Right now, our goal is to get Hillary out of that apartment complex and into a small rental home near her employment, as she will still need to work.

We are beside ourselves that we even have to ask for financial help, but here we are... We ask for continued prayers and any donations to get Hillary and the kids out of that apartment.

**12/10: 1 chest tube removed today!
