Our families are asking for support for our loved ones, Corey Knudson and his wife Corrie Black Knudson, as they will soon begin a long recovery after Corey’s major and unexpected aortic aneurysm surgery.
In the upcoming days, Corey will undergo a major operation to repair a large abdominal aortic aneurysm at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. This is a very serious and life-saving procedure, and we will be forever grateful to the team of incredible surgeons who will spend up to 11 hours on his surgery. While this is a huge step forward, the road to recovery will be very long. Doctors expect Corey to have an extended hospital stay, and following he will need several months to heal and regain his strength.
Corey and Corrie have built a wonderful life together in Port Townsend, Washington. Corrie’s family has deep roots in the community going back generations, and Corey has proudly called Port Townsend home for about 18 years. Over that time, they’ve built strong friendships and connections and have always been the kind of people who show up to help others when it’s needed.
Corey is self-employed and does remodeling, helping many people in the community maintain and improve their homes. Corrie is also self-employed and runs her own Etsy shop. Because they both work for themselves, Corey’s surgery and the months of recovery ahead mean a sudden loss of income at the same time that regular bills continue. Since Corey is the primary breadwinner, this recovery period will be especially challenging as he focuses on healing and Corrie supports him through the process.
We are starting this fundraiser to help Corey and Corrie cover essential expenses during this time—things like housing costs, utilities, groceries, everyday living expenses, and Corrie's travel and stay in Seattle as she stays nearby Harborview while he recovers. They need to be able to focus on Corey’s recovery without the added stress of financial pressure.
If you’re able to contribute, any amount will truly help and be deeply appreciated. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page with others would mean just as much. Corey and Corrie are incredibly grateful for the love, encouragement, and support of their friends, family, and the Port Townsend community. Thank you for helping them get through the months ahead.
Healing energy and prayers are also welcome during this difficult time! Thank you.
