I am Benjie of Cordillera Greens. Our farm in Waialua is built on hard work, resilience, and a deep love for growing food for our community. But now, we are asking for your help after a series of devastating Kona Low storms changed everything for us.

When the first storm hit, powerful winds tore through our farm. Crops that we had carefully planted and nurtured were blown over, snapped, and damaged beyond recovery. Rows that once stood strong were flattened. Leaves were shredded, stems were broken, and weeks of hard work were lost in just hours. We estimate that about 40% of our crops were destroyed during this first storm.

Even after that loss, we held onto hope.

The remaining crops were still healthy and approaching peak harvest. We believed we could recover, regroup, and still make it through the season.

But then the second storm came.

Heavy rains fell nonstop, and the farm quickly flooded. Water covered our fields, drowning the crops that had survived the winds. What wasn’t broken was now submerged. The soil became oversaturated, roots began to rot, and entire rows of crops were wiped out. In a single event, we lost what would have been our harvest for April through June—three months of income and food for our community.

Now, we are left starting over from the ground up.

We are humbly asking for your support to help us rebuild Cordillera Greens.

We’ll need to replace essential farm supplies, including fertilizers, seeds, mulch films, irrigation tape, and wooden posts. A significant need is also a plastic mulch remover, which we had planned to purchase using income from our expected harvest. Sadly, that harvest was lost due to the flooding. These funds raised are for immediate and urgent needs to help us get back on our feet.

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us take one step closer to recovery. Your support not only helps our farm get back on its feet, but also helps us continue providing fresh, locally grown food to our community.
