Almost a year ago, while going through immigration at the Philadelphia Airport, Constance was unjustly detained and taken to Moshannon Valley detention center, far away from her loved ones, her job, and her mother, of whom she is the primary caregiver.
For the past 7 months, Constance has been fighting to be released to take care of her mother, who has multiple medical conditions that require care. Constance’s mother is now in a nursing home because her daughter and sole caretaker was stolen from her. When she is released from the nursing home, she will require dialysis treatment.
Constance is a green card holder, and has worked hard to support her family, including covering her mother’s medical expenses. Her detention has left her family facing severe financial hardship due to the loss of her income. While detained, she has even lost her home because she has been unable to work or pay rent.
If Constance remains detained or deported, her family financial hardship will only deepen ,and her mother will remain in a nursing home deprived of her daughter’s vital care.
Constance remains clear in her goal of returning to her family and her mother who needs the care of her loving daughter. The uncertainty surrounding her situation is immense. An entire family sits waiting for their daughter, partner, sister, and cousin to be released.
This GoFundMe has been created to help her family continue to support C.L in her unjust detainment. With your assistance, we’ll help Constance:
Begin to recover lost wages
Support her legal battle to restore her freedom as she and her family navigate a corrupt, for-profit system.
Provide the funds she needs to purchase winter items on commissary
A message from Constance :
“I am asking for your assistance to help me get released from Moshannon Valley ICE processing center. My mother is very sick, having stage 2 kidney failure and lupus. She has to do dialysis 3 times a week. I am also willing to give her one of my kidneys if it's possible she is currently in a nursing home due to my detention, I would greatly appreciate the help in getting me home quickly to help her. Prior to being detained she was living with me. I was the one that took care of her, I am a hard worker and to be honest I was working as a security guard, and paying my tax since 2022. I also have a green card I have been living in the united state in Philadelphia since June 2022 I promise am not a flight risk, most of my family live here in the United States over 15 years the rest of my family lives in London my mother is also a United States citizen, if I should get deported my mother would suffer. I promise to comply with any situation given to me and I would be more than happy to be able to work and take care of my mother again when released, I will hold my words and will never mess up this opportunity.” - C.L.
