Support Connor to Beat Bacterial Meningitis!
Donation protected
I am starting this fundraiser for my nephew, Connor Wurster and his family. Connor is six years old, and is the oldest of three children. He became suddenly sick last week with a fever, and after being transported to Nemours Dupont in Delaware, was diagnosed with Bacterial Meningitis. He has been fighting for his life every day since his diagnosis. He received two brain surgeries to remove bacterial abscesses, and the surgeons removed the front portion of his skull to relieve massive brain pressure. He is finally off of the ventilator and sedation, but has a very long road to recovery ahead. They will be staying at the hospital for at least four more weeks. In this time, they will replace the removed portion of his skull and monitor him closely to ensure all bacteria are gone from his brain.
Doctors and therapists will also help Connor relearn how to do essential functions like walking, talking, and self-care. This process will take over six months, and once they are home will involve trips to various therapies three times a week. Jessie & Mack are staying at the hospital with Connor and are devoting every ounce of energy to supporting him through this incredibly rare and dangerous diagnosis. He has already defied the odds and is working so hard to be strong and brave for his family. I am asking for help to ease the burden for this incredible child and his family in their time of need. Any funds raised will help the Wurster family with medical bills, groceries, future copays and transportation costs for his extensive rehabilitation. I am so grateful for any help you can give to this amazing family in their time of need.
