Hi, my name is Cristina O'Donnell, and I'm organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my extended family member, Conny Cervantes and her son Eddie.
Conny and Eddie were traveling in Mexico to visit family and Conny's fiancée, Cesar, when their lives were changed in an instant. They were involved in a violent head‑on collision caused by a drunk driver — an impact so severe that both Conny and Eddie were trapped inside their vehicle and had to be cut out by emergency responders. The accident was reported locally https://democratacoahuila.com/2026/03/15/choque-frontal-en-la-saltillo-monclova-deja-tres-lesionados-dos-en-estado-grave/.
Both were rushed to the hospital in critical condition and have since endured unimaginable pain, trauma, and medical intervention just to survive. Conny suffered two punctured and collapsed lungs, a shattered ankle, a compound fractured femur, and a shattered upper arm. Eddie, her young son, endured two compound fractured femurs and a shattered wrist. Both Conny and Eddie have required multiple blood transfusions and several surgeries just to stabilize their conditions.
Conny and Eddie live in San Antonio, TX and will have a long road to recovery before they can return home. Conny is a 2nd‑grade elementary school teacher, a devoted mother of Eddie and two daughters. She is someone known for her strength, kindness, and perseverance. After her divorce, she worked tirelessly to rebuild her life—returning to college, earning her teaching certification, and continuing her journey toward American citizenship. She loves dancing and brings light and joy to everyone around her. She will be unable to work and faces an extensive recovery that will take many months.
Eddie, age 12, is a 6th‑grade student at a magnet school for Design and Technology. He’s a huge Godzilla fan, a gentle and sweet kid who studied karate and dreams of a future in computer science or the gaming industry.
The Road Ahead
Both Conny and Eddie must remain where they are for ongoing rehabilitation and additional surgeries. Cesar’s family is generously helping care for them, but they will still require professional in‑home medical care, continued treatment and surgeries, and extensive physical therapy.
All medical expenses, already exceeding $80,000, are entirely out of pocket. As a single working mother, Conny is currently unable to earn income, making the financial burden overwhelming.
Once they are medically stable, Conny and Eddie will also face the challenge—and cost—of traveling back to the United States to continue their recovery.
How Your Support Helps
Funds raised through this GoFundMe will help cover:
- Emergency and ongoing medical bills
- Multiple upcoming surgeries
- Rehabilitation and physical therapy
- In‑home medical care during recovery
- Living expenses while Connie is unable to work
- Safe travel back to the U.S. when medically cleared
A Family Asking for Help
Conny and Cesar—who have known each other since childhood and were planning their wedding this year—are now focused entirely on healing and supporting Eddie through this trauma.
We are asking for help so Conny can focus on healing, and Eddie can recover with the care, stability, and dignity every child deserves—without the constant fear of mounting medical bills caused by someone else’s reckless decision to drive drunk.
Any donation, no matter the amount, makes a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser helps more than you know.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
