Support Conner's Dad in His Cancer Battle
Donation protected
My name is Conner. I am the oldest of three kids, and I love my Dad and stepmom, Lisa. I hate to see our family struggling so much. My Dad is battling a severe illness and will be having his right leg amputated above the knee on May 19th. Back in October, he underwent surgery to remove a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST), a rare and aggressive form of cancer (sarcoma) in his right leg. I feel so bad, so I thought about starting a GoFundMe after hearing how expensive the medical bills are. My Dad, sister, brother, and I have a rare genetic disorder called Neurofibromatosis, or NF1, for short. Recently, the cancer returned and caused his leg to break. My Dad loves to walk—he goes for walks every day—so this has been life-changing for him. Funds raised will help cover time off work and expenses not covered by insurance, including an electric wheelchair, which is essential for his mobility and independence. My stepmom will also be on unpaid FMLA leave to care for him, and we’ll need help with moving costs, as we currently live in a top-floor apartment—something that won’t be sustainable after surgery. This surgery marks a massive shift in our lives, and while my Dad will work hard to learn to walk again, there is still a risk that the cancer could return, which would mean extended time off and further medical care.
