The Dream

Courtney Christison has aspired to be on Broadway ever since she was 17 years old. At first the dream involved acting. But in 2011, it evolved into something bigger than herself; she fell in love with composing and playwriting. This new area of theatre offered a unique opportunity for her to write stories that weren't being told, stories that showcased a distinctive point of view that she wasn't seeing represented in professional theatre. Despite several personal and professional setbacks, Courtney continued to persevere in this dream. With females representing less than 23.8% of composers on Broadway, the road to success has been met with distinct and frustrating challenges.

A New Decade and a Milestone Year

With her 40th birthday fast approaching, (March 10th, 2025) she wracked her brain thinking how to spend this monumental occasion. Maybe a party? A vacation? But... it all felt too impersonal. She yearned to do something she had never done before. Something that both honored her years of dedication to her craft and expanded the attention beyond her. Soon enough the answer came roaring in: she would recruit her favorite Broadway and Off-Broadway performers and musicians. She would gather her friends, family, industry professionals and fellow New Yorkers all in one place, and she would provide an evening of joy, laughter, thoughtfulness and reflection through her original theatrical music.

54 Below

54 Below, the recipient of the 2022 Tony Awards Honor for Excellence in the Theatre, is a world renowned venue located in the basement of the iconic Studio 54. Not only are they home to Broadway's biggest and brightest stars, they also work tirelessly to foster new and upcoming composers and talent.

Courtney's beautiful dream became a reality when her concert proposal was accepted by 54 Below. She was overjoyed to sign the contract knowing that her years of work would finally culminate in this moment. And then realized... this dream, this birthday wish, would only be possible with the help from others.
