We’re Horrorshow Productions, a non-profit community theatre group located in the heart of downtown Toronto. After a sold-out debut with CABARET, we’re back with our most ambitious production yet:

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Stephen Sondheim’s thrilling, razor-sharp musical exploring justice, grief, power, and revenge.

This December, over 50 local artists, actors, musicians, designers, and crew will come together to bring Sweeney Todd to life at the historic Alumnae Theatre. With a live 10-piece orchestra, full-scale design, and a daring ensemble-driven cast, this is community theatre with impact and polish.

But we can’t do it without your help.

What Sets Horrorshow Apart

We pay honorariums to every artist, musician, and crew member — to thank them for their time and support costs like travel and food
We share any surplus revenue back with the team, doubling base honorariums
We keep theatre accessible, offering $25 Community Access tickets for every performance

Why We’re Fundraising

Producing a show like Sweeney Todd takes serious resources. From performance rights and venue rental to building sets, crafting costumes, renting equipment, and paying our team - the costs add up fast.

Our production budget is $70,000, and we’re aiming to raise $12,500 (18%) of that through this campaign.

$18,750 – Base Honorariums ($500 for each Creative, $500 for each Musician, $250 for each Actor & Core Production/Crew Members)
$10,250 – Surplus Share (if the production generates a surplus, it will be shared back with the team up to $10.25K. Any additional surplus will be reinvested into future productions)
$11,245 – Venue (two-week rental of Alumnae Theatre including tech and supervisor hours)
$7,485 – Rights (performance rights, scripts, and sheet music)
$7,000 – Set, Costumes, Props, Hair/Makeup (with stretch fundraising goals for enhancements)
$5,000 – Sound/Lighting Rentals
$7,212 – Printing, Insurance, Rehearsal Space, Truck Rentals, Promo, Web Hosting, Misc.
$3,250 – Bar, Concessions, Merch
