Support Collin's fight against leukemia!

**Update- Y'all, Collin has had a really tough go of it since I first started this page. He is TOUGH as nails but these treatments are just really hard hurdles to cross.. and he has to cross them constantly. He has been hospitalized multiple times because his immune system is virtually non-existent. He is currently in the hospital battling an intestinal infection among other things and he just. needs. a. break. Please, God, just give him a break. Since Kayla is unable to work and Jon has had to be off frequently, the stresses- emotional, physical, financial, mental- are many. I honestly don't know how Kayla does it. It was expected that he would have a rough road ahead when he was first diagnosed, but his road has been a whole lot rougher than anyone could have expected and that is so hard on anyone.. much less a mama's heart. Just the simple act of eating has been one of the biggest challenges from the start. Please help us keep this family lifted and the burden lighter by donating. They are doing their absolute best but nothing prepares you for something like this. Also, please lift some prayers for him-- he really needs to be rallied around right now. Specifically, pray for the nausea meds to work so he can keep at least some food down and gain some strength back. Pray that he remains fever-free so that vital treatment can continue. Pray that the next bone marrow biopsy yields favorable results. Pray that his strength is greater than this next round of even stronger chemo. Most importantly, pray for calm and peace- he's 13 and he knows what's going on. He's miserably sick and he's anxious. Thank you to everyone from the bottom of all of our hearts. ***
Hi! I am De Atkinson and I'm Kayla's sister-in-law and Collin's aunt. Yesterday, Kayla was given the news that no mom wants to hear: your child has leukemia. Collin was taken to the ER almost 2 weeks ago with severe back pain. After following up with his pediatrician and running more labs, he was sent to a pediatric oncologist in San Antonio. His oncologist confirmed after a bone marrow biopsy yesterday that Collin has leukemia. There are still many unknowns, but this morning (5/23/23) Collin will be admitted in San Antonio, have a port placed, and start his fight. He just finished his 7th grade year at Briesemeister in Seguin. He runs track and plays golf. His dream is to be a professional golfer one day!
The next few months will be a rollercoaster-- my hope is that they will be able to focus on Collin and their family and not have to worry about the financial aspect of this. With Kayla's permission, I will keep this page updated as his treatment progresses.
