Support Colleen's Journey to Recovery

Dear Friends,
We are reaching out today to ask for your support for our dear friend, Colleen Lipari and her beautiful family. Colleen has been a lifelong resident of West Sayville, an active member of St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish and worked at the Bristal in Sayville as a recreational therapist.
On February 14th, Colleen experienced a traumatic rupture of an AVM causing bleeding in her brain. Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs) are abnormal tangles of arteries and veins that grow in the brain. They are unknown anomalies until they eventually rupture. Colleen had a sudden severe headache which quickly progressed to her loss of consciousness. She was rushed to South Shore University Hospital where she was immediately placed in the neurological ICU. The bleeding has caused a loss of her ability to fully move the left side of her body and has affected the part of her brain that controls her speech and language skills. The doctors said she is a true miracle case as they prepared her family for the worst. Her family had to take her progress one hour at a time while gathered at the hospital waiting for doctors to work tirelessly to save Colleen’s life. Colleen has gone through several weeks of rehabilitation at various medical facilities and is now home trying to navigate her extensive recovery. We ask for your support for Colleen as this experience has been devastating and traumatic for their family. Thank you for your consideration.
