Help Collective Strength cover our moving expenses!
Collective Strength is a co-operative barbell gym in Philadelphia. Being a co-op means that we are a business that is entirely owned and operated by our members. We don't have paid staff or trainers, just our members. Our mission at Collective Strength is to create an accessible strength training space for people who have not traditionally been encouraged to pursue strength training and strength sports. We work towards this goal through our affordable memberships, accessible range of equipment, and community support. Our core values of inclusivity, respect for bodily autonomy, cultivation of joyful movement, and radical self-acceptance are at the center of everything we do.
We have big long-term plans of being able to expand inclusive fitness in the Philadelphia area, but in order to meet our goals, we need to shift our resources a little bit. An opportunity to move into a ground-floor space (no stairs, which we currently deal with) has opened up in our building complex and we're taking advantage. This space is going to reduce our overhead costs and better use our existing equipment to allow us to move some of it to community partners spaces for classes and workshops.
But we need your help. Moving costs a lot of money. We will be hiring a moving company and purchasing materials to outfit our new space. Our donations will help us meet this goal without having to pass the cost onto our members that depend on our sliding scale memberships for gym access. Anything little bit helps a lot, and if you're able to help us cover the costs of this GoFundMe as well, that would be so helpful. Whatever is left over after our move will go to the outstanding loans we have that were used to purchase our equipment.
We also welcome in-kind donations: please reach out to help us with the move in exchange for a free month of membership.
