Dear friends, my car was vandalized in May by people I trusted with the use of my car. These were people in need having little money and no car. I felt sorry for these people because of how humble they appeared to be. My car was apparently used to go on a joy ride and subsequently returned to me with substantial damage. There is an airbag deployed, two passenger side windows are completely shattered, the front windshield is shattered, and there are large dents on the front of my car. This is a car that I worked very hard to obtain and it was the nicest thing I have ever owned. My insurance would not cover the costs of the damage because I was not the driver involved in a collision, or the person who punched two windows out, and I was not the driver who went on a joy ride likely in a forest indicated by the amount of scratches and pine cones that were found in the car and on the wedged in the front grille of my car. I relied on my car because I live on the Zuni Pueblo and there is no local public transport, taxis or private transportation for hire like Uber. As a consequence, my work has suffered and I have struggled to be able to buy groceries, dog food for my 8 dogs, and most devastatingly supplies for my jewelry. If you personally know me, you'd likely know how generous I am and all my efforts toward feeding dogs, and rescuing dogs on the Zuni and Navajo reservations.
I humbly ask for your help and any amount would be very helpful. I also was unable to pay for my website which is currently down because of how difficult it has been to get supplies and make sales to galleries and stores. I am very hopeful to be going to Japan to do a show in November and this horrible event with my car has derailed these plans, and I have been in distress since this happened.
There is currently a police report and I doubt that pressing charges on the individuals responsible would garner any kind of justice or reparations.
If you have any questions please email me.
Thank you, all my love,
Colin Coonsis
