I’m raising funds for my 19-year-old twin stepsons, Coleman and Clark, after they suddenly lost their father, Brad, at just 58 years old. Coleman and Clark lived with their dad most of the time, and he loved them like no other. They shared so much of everyday life together, from watching movies and enjoying comic books to going to the Scottish Games. Losing Brad so suddenly has changed everything for them, and at 19, they are carrying a heartbreaking loss at a time when they should still have their father with them.
Brad had many friends who loved him, and that circle of care matters deeply. At the same time, Coleman and Clark are his sons, and their immediate family is small. Their mother, Jill, and I are walking beside them through every difficult decision and every practical need that now has to be faced far too soon.
Right now, the most immediate need is to cover funeral expenses so Brad can be laid to rest with dignity and care. Beyond that, Coleman and Clark are also facing adult responsibilities no 19-year-olds should have to carry alone, including decisions about the home they shared with their father, which needs significant repairs, while they are also trying to continue their education.
After funeral costs, donations will help Coleman and Clark stay on track at the University of Delaware, where they are both sophomores majoring in Fine Arts. Support will also help with the immediate upkeep and stability of the house as they navigate this loss and begin to understand what comes next.
