Help Rebuild Cole and Kayla's Home After Severe Water Damage
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sarah Potter. Thank you for taking a moment to read about this GoFundMe that I've created on behalf of my son, Cole and my soon to be daughter-in-law, Kayla. They are experiencing an unexpected hardship and have been displaced from their home since December, 2024. My hope is that with your help, we will be able to significantly ease their financial burden, alleviate some of their stress, and allow them to shift their focus back to their upcoming wedding in June.
On December 18, Cole and Kayla woke up to find standing water and excessive damage throughout their home. Overnight, while they slept, an atmospheric river event caused major water intrusion as water entered through their walls and spread to every room in their home. The damage was extensive and steps had to be taken immediately. So at a moment’s notice, just one week before Christmas, they started packing up their belongings while a remediation company came and gutted their home. Currently, Cole and Kayla are staying in a spare bedroom at her parents, along with their two pets while their belongings are stored elsewhere.
Unfortunately, their insurance claim was denied because their policy did not include damage caused by surface water intrusion. As a result, Cole and Kayla have spent a total of $18,089 so far, on water remediation, asbestos floor removal, mold remediation, moving costs and many other associated living expenses. All of the newly remodeled flooring and hard work and upgrades that they’d put into their condo since purchasing it in 2022, are a complete loss. In addition, all kitchen and bathroom cabinets and two feet of the lower drywall and insulation throughout the entire home had to be removed and discarded.
Cole and Kayla are two of the kindest people you will ever meet. They are consistently generous with their time and always seeking ways to support and uplift those who may need help. They are responsible, caring, adventurous and outgoing young adults who often put the needs of others before theirs. With their wedding day quickly approaching, it would be truly heartwarming to help them recoup some of their losses. Your donations, no matter the size, will go directly towards purchasing and replacing flooring, cabinetry, drywall, paint and more. It will allow them to expedite repairs and most importantly, move back home before their wedding celebration. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for your kindness, support and generosity. Please feel free to share this page to others who you feel might be able to help.
