Support Coffee Mafia: Keep Auburn's Queer Space Alive

Hi, We're Coffee Mafia - your favorite espresso bar nestled just outside of Downtown Auburn, AL. We're the coffee shop that does the Red Bull drinks and the drag shows and the other crazy shit a lot of people are scared to do in the south, and we're one of the only openly queer spaces in our town. It's Really important to us to continue to be a space for people that are traditionally "othered" in our town and give them the opportunity to be themselves, find others like them, and engage in community.

We've always operated as a "break-even" business - meaning we aren't here to make profit but rather re-invest in ourselves, our events, and our community. Summers are always hard, but this past summer is the worst summer Auburn's small businesses have seen in almost a decade and if we're being honest, we're not doing so well. We trimmed our hours and menu during the summer and we tried to ride the rollercoaster of back to school and then five home games in a row; but we haven't been able to catch our breath or catch up on debt we built trying to stay open this summer.

We have tried really hard to keep things lookin normal for our customers, but empty fridges, missing menu items, and the inability to even keep cups and coffee in stock kind of chip at our whimsical exterior, and we've eaten through our savings and any other lifelines to try and keep operating; we feel like we don't really have any choice but to take a leap of faith and see if our community can help us break our fall.

We're NOT closing; rest assured. Our situation sucks but if we have to cut our hours and slim down even more we'll do whatever it takes to survive - but this relief could help us catch up on bills, keep payroll going for our small and dedicated team, and let us begin the slow process of righting ourselves after a really shitty summer.

We know times are hard for everyone, and we know that donating is difficult, every share of this page gets more eyes on this; and at the end of the day what we really want is for our incredible customers to keep enjoying coffee with us - so if you can't donate just keep popping in to see us for a coffee and a bagel and know that is just as much support as anything else; our motto isn't "Make Coffee, Love People" for nothing!
