Help Cody Recover from His Accident

On July 14, 2025, our dear friend Cody was struck by a car while walking through a crosswalk on his way to minister and help a fellow church member with her move. It was a clear, sunny day, and he was speaking with his mother on the phone when he was struck by a hit and run driver. Cody sustained a concussion and serious injuries that have left him struggling with constant pain, dizziness, balance issues, sleep disruption, and cognitive challenges. His doctors have documented significant impairments that affect his ability to work, drive, and manage daily life .

Who Cody Is

Cody has dedicated his life to service and helping others.

He grew up in New Jersey and went to college in New York City.

He served in the Peace Corps in Kazakhstan and later with AmeriCorps in Boston.

He founded a business helping international patients access life-saving medical treatment in the United States, including cancer care and transplants.

Today, he continues to work in the medical field, serving others even while managing his own health challenges.

When Cody is not working, he spends his time supporting others. He has strong ties to the AA community and sponsors those overcoming their drinking and drug issues. He even started his own AA chapter specifically for working Parents on Sundays so they were able to have their own time to address their needs while working full time jobs to support their families. He is also an active member of his church community, always giving his time to minister, support, and uplift those around him.

The Financial Impact

Cody’s injuries have left him unable to work. His costs are overwhelming:

Lost wages (3 weeks so far): $4,500

Rent & housing bills: $1,325

Cell phone: $35/month

Medication: $171 (even with insurance)

Food: ~$250–$275/month

Transportation to medical appointments (Uber/Lyft): $414.21

Total immediate costs: $6,720 (not including medical bills).

And the medical bills alone are already over $17,000. With insurance adjustments, he may still be left owing more than $10,000 out-of-pocket.

Treatment Plan

Cody’s recovery after his hit-and-run accident has been tough and demanding. His treatment plan includes physical therapy three times a week, regular steroid injections for pain, and ongoing cognitive rehabilitation to help restore memory and thinking skills. While Cody has made some progress, he still faces a long road ahead and needs continued support for these vital therapies and follow-up care

Our Goal

We are setting a $10,000 fundraising goal to help Cody cover:

Urgent living expenses while he cannot work

Ongoing medical bills and treatments

Transportation and recovery support
