This is my angel baby, Cody. Anybody that knows me could tell you that he is my entire universe. I rescued him at 8 months and we’ve been inseparable ever since. He is now 9 years old but still has the spirit of the 8 month old pittie I met back in 2016 . He is truly the best boy in the world. Cody was diagnosed with mast cell tumors nearly 5 years ago. During that time, Cody has had 2 successful removal surgeries with no signs of reoccurrence. Unfortunately, in October a new bump began to grow on his prepuce. The growth was removed immediately, but due to the mast cell tumor being a high grade 3 with a mitotic count of 60+ it came back almost immediately. Cody met with an oncologist for a CT scan and we decided in November that he would begin his radiation journey, as that was the best option. Surgery was no longer an option unless his penis was amputed, and even with the risk of amputation, it was not guaranteed that the growth wouldn’t come back again. He completed his radiation treatment on December 19th. The mass began to decrease and Cody was starting to feel well again. That mass is now much smaller and more comfortable for him, but sadly, in the last two weeks the mass began to spread. He now has a few masses that have popped up and his oncologist recommended we begin Palladia, which is an at home chemotherapy pill that targets mast cell tumors. While I’ve had my reservations about this treatment, Cody is a very healthy pup otherwise. With multiple veterinary opinions, going this route would give him the best quality of life. Cody has been very lucky to have health insurance, but with the high cost of the vet and oncologist visits and treatments over the last three months, they will no longer cover him until September. I am not someone who would ever ask for help, especially on a financial level, but any small amount would be extremely helpful for us ❤️.. if you cannot afford to donate, please pass this along for others to see.
Cody is also being treated homeopathically, and I will continue to do so alongside western medicine to give him the best outcome.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
