God’s Got This: Cody’s Journey Through Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

My brother Cody was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, something our family was completely blindsided by. If you know Cody, you know how seriously he takes his health. He’s always been intentional about what he puts into his body and how he cares for it. While it would be easy to dwell on why this happened, we’re instead choosing to focus on the how.
How can we use this for His good?
How can we glorify God through this season of uncertainty?
How can this bring us—and others—closer to Him?
We’re incredibly grateful for a promising prognosis, but with that gratitude comes immense grief of knowing he will endure such a difficult treatment plan. As a family, we’re committed to staying positive and focusing on all the blessings we are grateful for. Here are a few of the ones I’m reminding myself of daily.
- I’m grateful Cody is young and otherwise healthy — that gives us great hope.
- I’m so thankful he listened to his body and pushed for answers when things didn’t feel right.
- I’m grateful for his wife, Brittany and the loving family she’s brought into our lives.
- I’m comforted knowing our parents and his mother-in-law are retired and close by, ready to fill in the gaps where need be.
- Above all, I’m grateful for our firm foundation in faith and the unwavering belief we have in the power of prayer.
God hears us. Please lift Cody’s name up whenever you pray. Add him to your church’s prayer list. Share his name with your prayer groups. Pray for Cody to have strength through the journey ahead. Pray for Brittany, and for their two precious children, Grady and Maggie. Pray for peace, comfort, and resilience on the hardest of days. Pray for God’s healing hand to be on Cody—and for us to see this season through God’s eyes.
Beating cancer is not just emotionally and physically draining—it’s financially demanding too. If you are in a place to donate, we would be incredibly grateful. No gift is too small. Our greatest hope is that Cody can focus all of his energy on healing. We want him to enjoy the good days with his family, keeping life as normal as possible for Grady and Maggie, while having the space to rest and recover on the hard days.

Romans 8:28 reminds us:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
We believe this. We’re holding onto this. And we’re trusting God to carry Cody through.
