Cody and Mary Fuentes are facing an incredibly difficult chapter in their lives. Cody, a dedicated Lieutenant with the San Antonio Fire Department, has spent his career serving others, just as his father did before him. For years, Cody has relied on his physical strength and determination to respond to emergencies and help those in need. But now, he is battling Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), a debilitating neurological condition that has left him physically weak and with significant difficulty walking. The disease has progressed to the point where Cody can no longer work with his firehouse crew or drive to his current job assignment at the SAFD Training Academy. His doctors have prescribed specific medications that, even after insurance, are extremely expensive.
Mary, Cody’s wife and Lyzz’s cousin, is doing everything she can to support her husband and their two young daughters. With Cody unable to help around the house, the family is facing new challenges every day. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward in-home childcare, medication expenses, and travel assistance so Cody can continue working and the family can maintain some stability during this difficult time.
Cody has always been the one to help others, but now it’s our turn to help him and his family. Asking for support is not easy for the Fuentes family, but after nearly a year of battling this disease, it’s clear they need their community behind them. Please join us in supporting Cody, Mary, and their daughters. It truly takes a village to lift up those who have spent their lives serving others.
