Cody and Jessica K. ( Also known as Lilith to many of her friends) really could a friendly and kind hand right now.
At 36 years old and 30 weeks ( 7 ½ mo) pregnant, Jessica was diagnosed with Stage 4 hormone responsive metastatic breast cancer. Which has metastasized in her liver, sternum, and spine. The tumor on her liver has caused it to enlarge . Because this type of cancer is hormone responsive ( tumor growth is fueled by estrogen and progesterone) it is medically necessary to deliver her baby early at 34 weeks ( 8 ½ mo) . Preterm delivery means the baby will be in the NICU for about 4 -6 weeks. In which he will remain there until he can finish developing and master the necessary combination of reflexes. He will need to maintain these with no “events” for 5 days straight before he can be released. Cody and Jessica live 1hr and 45min away from the hospital. They wish to be there with their son, taking turns so he will not be alone. As well as allowing her to have this time with him.
They have a lot on their plate to handle with her cancer diagnosis/treatment, their young son ( almost 2 years old) , the birth of their premature son, and their homestead. Thankfully, childcare for their young son is covered by family. He will not be able to go to the NICU with them due to age restrictions at the facility.
Cody and Jessica NEED help with the following:
Travel Expenses - gas and such to get to the hospital and back
Premie Baby Items
Medical expenses
While these are the main things they need help with, extra funds will go to helping them with food and bills while they are taking the time to be there with their newborn son . As well as making things easier at home for Jessica to manage her treatment.
They have remained very strong together in the face of all of this. Both of them just really started their lives together within the last few years. They got married, built a home together, gave birth to a beautiful little boy, and now are bringing another little one into the world. Then life delivered this news. While we are all hopeful, we understand what it means. There is a long road ahead for the young couple. Your help would make all of this much easier to manage.

Alyss - She has such a grace and strong presence about her. Her strength , intelligence, and confidence has always been captivating. Full of knowledge and stories that i wanted to know more about. Jessica held my hand through the hardest moments of my life and wept with me. She has always been the person you could talk to when the world was so heavy. Somehow through the darkest days, she has always known what to say. Even when she herself is facing adversity, she has held her head high and moved forward.
Paige- Jessica is more than just a mother or best friend. She is the sister I always needed. My compass in life when the path isn't obvious. The soul that keeps me grounded, and the only person who has given me hope when the world seemed to have run out.
She brings our little group closer together and makes each visit with her something special to remember. Whether its exploring nature, talking over coffee, or watching her become the amazing woman and mother she is today. It may not be by blood, but she is family.
UPDATE:
12/9 - Jessica was admitted for her scheduled induction but baby was breech.
MRI showed spinal lesions are too advanced for safe placement of epidural or intubation, making her a poor candidate for C-Section.
12/10 - Baby was successfully turned, induction began.
12/11 - Baby born, 5lbs 3oz. Both are doing well
