Meet my brother Cody and his fiancé Danielle. Newly engaged, with a baby brother on the way for 3 year old brother Riley, life was pretty much perfect for this happy couple. Then on February 10th, tragedy struck when Cody was in a near fatal car crash. After the 1st responders used the jaws of life to free him from the wreckage, he was transported to the nearest hospital where STARS then airlifted him to the U of A hospital in Edmonton.
Amazingly, Cody survived, but the injuries he endured are very extensive. He suffered a small brain bleed, many facial lacerations, a collapsed lung and suffered some damage to his heart, a broken sternum, fractured pelvis, and broken tailbone. But worst of all were the multiple and severe breaks to both of his legs that have required two major surgeries so far. The surgeons and the specialists are estimating that Cody will be in a wheel chair for the next 6 months to 1 year and will be in need of extensive rehabilitation to enable him to walk again.
This, of course, has left him unable to work to support his young and growing family. Cody is a self-employed installer who contracts mostly through Stettler Flooring located in his home town. The sad fact is though, that being self-employed ultimately means that if you can’t work, there is no money coming in, which has left them in great financial turmoil. They are going to struggle to even meet their basic daily needs, let alone house payments and everything else that comes with just living an average everyday life.
We are asking for your help to support this young family in their time of need. With the new baby due in early April, time is of the essence to try to get them all the financial assistance we can, and stable enough so that Cody can focus on recovering and Danielle can bring their new baby boy into this world safely and without too many worries.
