Dear friends and family ,
It is with a heavy heart that we share some severe medical news with you all.
On Friday May 24th, I went with Codi to the doctor to do a mammogram and ultrasound . At that appointment we were told with 100% certainty that she has breast cancer. The following Monday (Memorial Day) she went to the ER with horrible side pain after contacting her breast care navigator . It was again horrible news; we found out the breast cancer had spread to her liver. It was later determined by multiple biopsies that she has stage 4 Breast Cancer, which means her cancer will not be curable. With treatment, there is a chance she will still be able to live a long happy life for several years but she will face countless doctors, possible surgeries, rigorous treatments, scans, and tests for the rest of her life .
Codi will start chemotherapy within the next week . She is going to have to fight for her life over the next 6 months for the first round of chemo and will need to continue to fight after.
With all the life-changing news Codi and I have come to realize that we will need to remodel our only bathroom to make it more accessible for her. We will need to put in a standing shower since we have a vintage claw foot tub and Codi will not have the strength to step over the high sides and will risk falling because of the curvature of the bottom. Because she is already dealing with dizzy spells , nausea, and balance issues, treatment will only add more risk.
With all that being said, massive medical bills are already starting to roll in . We are at a complete loss at what to do next since no one ever plans for their world to be turned upside down by a cancer diagnosis. We are asking for donations to help us through this hard time. Any funds received will go to a separate account and will be all used toward medical bills and any cancer-related needs .
We appreciate all the love and support we have already received and are grateful to everyone who has prayed for her and sent good vibes. We have an amazing community of people who have already been helping take her to appointments while we wrap our minds around this news.
