I never imagined having to write something like this for someone I love, but here we are.
In early December, my dear friend Codi found a lump in her breast. After doctor visits and testing, her world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. Since that moment, she has shown nothing but courage, strength, and determination to fight for her life.
She didn’t wait. She started chemotherapy immediately, her first treatment on Christmas Eve, and her second on New Year’s. While most of us were celebrating the holidays, she was sitting in a chemo chair, fighting with everything she has.
She was scheduled for her third chemo treatment on January 7th… but it was canceled. As of now she has missed 3 scheduled chemotherapy appointments.
Not because she isn’t ready to fight.
Not because she gave up.
But because of insurance.
Although she does have insurance, her employer recently switched from Blue Cross Blue Shield to UMR. Now, in the middle of cancer treatment, UMR is requiring her to pay $6,850 upfront before allowing her to continue chemotherapy. This unexpected demand has completely stopped her treatment, something that is absolutely critical when battling an aggressive cancer.
No one should have to choose between finances and life-saving care.
We are asking for help to raise the funds needed so she can resume her chemotherapy as soon as possible. Anything helps every dollar, every share, every prayer. Time matters, and delaying treatment is not an option.
If you can donate, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you can’t, please share this fundraiser to help spread the word. Your kindness and support could help save her life.
Thank you for standing with Codi in this fight.
