In December, between Coady's birthday and Christmas, the benign tumor in Coady's brain was found to have become cancerous, specifically, astrocytoma. Over the next months, Coady and Renae explored treatment options here in Springfield and at Siteman Cancer Institute in St. Louis.
The doctors at Siteman Cancer Institute are using cutting edge technology to treat astrocytoma. To be honest, cutting edge doesn't do it justice. It sounds straight out of a science fiction novel. The course of treatment involves two robot-guided brain surgeries, a course of radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.
Coady completed his first surgery in March and in mid-June will have his second surgery. Once he has healed, he will begin an intensive, six-week radiation treatment. Once radiation is complete, he will begin a year-long chemo regimen that will include immunotherapy.
While Coady and Renae have health insurance and a supportive work environment, there will be times of unpaid leave and daunting medical bills. The hope is that with this GoFundMe we can give Coady, Renae and his children financial peace of mind through this stressful season of life. Your support would give them the ability to focus solely on Coady's recovery and healing.
We know times are tough for everyone right now. If you can't donate please help us amplify this fundraiser by sharing it with people you know! Many hands make light work. Thank you for all the support that has been shown towards Coady and Renae. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
