Support Coach Voyles: Cover Surgery & Pay It Forward

Donation protected
Hi everyone! We are Noah and Ellie, former and current students of Coach Greg Voyles. Coach Voyles is a teacher and Coach at Union Grove Middle School in Henry County, Georgia. He has been teaching in Henry County for many years and has been in education for 27 years.

Coach Voyles coaches middle school football and wrestling. He is a huge advocate for his students, and they respect him as a mentor and coach. Coach Voyles is an exceptional Social Studies teacher known for his engaging storytelling skills. He is a favorite among both current and former students.

This past wrestling season, Coach Voyles was folding up one of the wrestling mats. He had warned the county that the mats, weighing several hundred pounds, were way too heavy and would cause injury. However, one day, Coach Voyles was cleaning up the mats after practice. He picked up the mat, which caused a hernia to develop due to the strain on his abdominal muscles. Coach Voyles was in great health before this incident. He had just led his teams through a successful football and wrestling season.

As protocol dictates, Coach Voyles went through the county to try and get worker's comp since this happened on the job site. However, he was denied. He was told that no one can get a hernia on the job site, so they will not pay for it. He continues to be in pain daily since he hasn't been able to have the surgery.

As most people know, teachers' salaries are modest, and unexpected medical expenses can be a heavy financial burden. Coach Voyles now faces costly medical bills for the surgery and recovery he needs to get back to doing what he loves—teaching and coaching his students.

The surgery will cost Coach Voyles approximately $3,500 out of pocket. Despite facing this financial burden himself, his first thought was about helping someone else. When we spoke with Coach Voyles about setting up this GoFundMe, he humbly agreed but insisted that if we were able to raise $4,000, he would donate $500 to a fellow teacher down the hall who needs a new battery for her son's wheelchair.

This speaks volumes about the kind of person Coach Voyles is—always putting others before himself, even in difficult times. He has spent nearly three decades supporting students, athletes, and fellow educators, and now it's our chance to give back. We are asking for your help to cover his medical expenses and ease the financial strain caused by this injury. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in ensuring Coach Voyles gets the care he needs.

If Coach Voyles has ever made a positive impact on your life, or if you believe in supporting the educators who give so much to their students, please consider donating and sharing this page. Let’s come together as a community to give back to a man who has given so much to his students and athletes.
